My Bose Lifestyle DVD Player Stopped Working

Writer's picture: Craig WhitakerCraig Whitaker

We recently received a call from a client with a question we hadn’t encountered in quite some time. The client owned an older Bose Lifestyle system with a built-in DVD player, similar to the Lifestyle 38/48 models, and the DVD player had stopped working. The client had a large DVD collection and wanted to continue watching his DVDs using his Bose system.

The solution was straightforward: purchase a third-party DVD player with an output compatible with the Bose Lifestyle system and connect it to an available input. It's important to note that most older Bose Lifestyle systems do not have HDMI inputs, so the new DVD player will need to have an output other than HDMI.

To use the third-party DVD player, you'll need to manually start the DVD player (since the Bose remote won’t control it), and then use the Bose remote to select the input where the new DVD player is connected.
