Know Where Your Steaming Apps

We often get calls from clients asking why their video streaming apps suddenly stopped working. Just this week, a client was confused because they didn’t realize their streaming apps could be accessed in multiple ways, leading to trouble finding a favorite app.
In today’s world, streaming apps can reside in several places—your Smart TV, a streaming device like a Roku, or even through your cable or satellite provider. We once had a client who originally set up Netflix using their DVD player. Later, when trying to access Netflix through their new Smart TV, they ran into problems because they hadn’t reconnected their account properly.
If you try to access an app differently than how it was originally set up, you may be denied access. For example, if you set up Netflix on your Smart TV and then try to access Netflix through your cable guide, it won’t work unless you have also activated Netflix through your cable provider.
To avoid confusion, it’s important to remember how your apps were originally set up and access them the same way. If you have multiple options and own a 4K TV, we recommend using your Smart TV apps or a Roku device over your cable provider. Many cable providers don’t deliver true 4K signals, so streaming directly will give you a better picture.
