Can Bose Cube Speakers Be Used as Rear Speakers for My Soundbar

Clients that have older Bose Lifestyle systems ask if the Lifestyle cube speakers, including the larger AM-5 cube speaker and the Jewel cube speaker can be used as rear speakers for their Bose Soundbar to create a 5.1 system. The answer is no. The Lifestyle cube speakers are passive speakers and are wired to the Bose Lifestyle bass module to receive their power. The Bose Soundbar rear speakers are wireless, powered speakers that connect to an electrical outlet. Also, it important to understand that Bose had rear speakers for Bose Soundbars that operated on the Bose Soundtouch platform. The Bose Soundtouch rear speakers are not compatible with the new Bose Soundbars that operate on the Bose Music platform.

Clients with older Bose Lifestyle systems often inquire about using their Lifestyle cube speakers, including the larger AM-5 cube speaker and the Jewel cube speaker, as rear speakers for their Bose Soundbar to create a 5.1 system. Unfortunately, this is not possible. The Lifestyle cube speakers are passive speakers wired to the Bose Lifestyle bass module to receive their power. In contrast, Bose Soundbar rear speakers are wireless, powered speakers that connect to an electrical outlet.

It's also important to note that Bose previously offered rear speakers for Bose Soundbars that operated on the Bose SoundTouch platform. However, these SoundTouch rear speakers are not compatible with the new Bose Soundbars that operate on the Bose Music platform. Compatibility between speaker systems and platforms is essential for seamless integration and optimal performance.
